Laguna Impressions is a pair of paintings that I was commissioned to paint by a resident of Laguna. In the development of these paintings, I was asked to represent Laguna-specific imagery in a style that embodies the often rough and tumble life on the lagoon.  lagoon.

In this abbreviated series (only two made) I explored the vast, yet, shallow waters that are the home to the many fishing boats that patrol the lagoon surrounding Laguna, SC.

Taking my queue from the Impressionists, I worked on these paintings with thick, sometimes dabbed on, paint. Brushes, palette knives and finges pushed the paint into the already gritty substrate.

These paintings were completed in 2019 using oil paints & canvas brought from the United States and local materials to construct the frames and textures.
